40th Annual Black Heritage Festival
February 15 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pmIncluded in museum admission
Forty years ago, Mrs. Georgia Calhoun began the Black Heritage Festival to enhance the community children’s poetry experience and encourage all members of the community to visit their local museum. Throughout the years, students ranging from pre-kindergarten to grade 12 have taken deep breaths as they stepped onto a stage in front of hundreds of people to recite poetry. Join us February 15, as we celebrate the 40th Annual Black Heritage Festival and encourage children to speak up and stand out on their poetic journey.
The festival will take place at the Longleaf Botanical Gardens from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM. All children interested in participating need to complete a participant form prior to the festival and mail it to the Anniston Museum of Natural History. Participation forms will be available at www.ExploreAMAG.org or at the Anniston Museum of Natural History visitor services desk.
Be sure to visit and shop a variety of vendors during festival hours in the Longleaf Botanical Gardens lobby. Following the orations, join us for a special choir performance and Awards Ceremony! More details will be released as we approach this special event! For more information on Black Heritage Festival, please contact Sarah Burke at email@example.com or 256-237-6766 x 402.
