Third Thursday: Hugelkultur
Are you tired of planting things only to have them die or disappoint, spending too much money on soil and fertilizers, or digging in rocky clay soil only to end up with a bowl full of water that won’t drain and will drown your plants? If so, Hugelkultur may be your solution! Join the Longleaf Botanical Gardens and Master Gardener Tim Kaylor to learn more about this centuries-old German method of gardening.
Tim Kaylor has been associated with some type of gardening in one capacity or another for the past 60 years. Fortunate to have been blessed with a “…most of the time…” green thumb, he has experimented and had success with many styles of gardening. Tim’s passion for gardening and sharing what he has learned led him to become a Certified Master Gardener with the Alabama Master Gardeners Association in 2020. He served two years as the Vice President of the Calhoun County Master Gardeners Association from 2021-2022. Tim currently serves on the Calhoun County Beautification Board and volunteers with the Longleaf Botanical Gardens’ Education Committee.
This program is $5 per person and free for AM&G members.
