Third Thursday: Plant a Tree
Join the Longleaf Botanical Gardens for a family-friendly Earth Day program! Come prepared to get your hands dirty; all participants will get hands-on experience potting a plant during the program. The guest presenter, Jack Johnston from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Northeast Georgia, will educate the group about the plant, but what’s the best part? All attendees will leave one plant richer!
Jack Johnston is a former resident of Anniston. He studied plant ecology and botany as a student in college at Birmingham. His interests include native plant propagation of woody and herbaceous plants, as well as grafting heritage apples. Jack maintains a magnolia collection representing approximately 40 species and numerous hybrids. His small planting of apples produced bushels of organically grown apples in 2023.
April’s Third Thursday program is limited to 30 people. Pre-register to reserve a spot for you and your family members’ seats.
