Who Can Take the Heat?
The Longleaf Botanical Gardens is excited to welcome back Jason Powell from Petals from the Past! During this month’s Third Thursday program, Jason will discuss shrubs, perennials, herbs, and old garden roses that can handle Alabama’s summer heat (and still look beautiful) in the garden! After the program, Petals From the Past will have a selection of plants available for purchase.
Horticulturalists Jason and Shelley Powell started Petals from the Past in 1994. Jason has a master’s degree in horticulture from Texas A&M University and Shelley has a BS in Horticulture from Texas A&M. Together, they have applied contemporary techniques in growing the finest old-garden plants along with new varieties.
